Chantal Londji Dang was born in Gabon. In 1985, she left Cameroon to pursue her studies, at the La flèche College in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. She obtained a Bachelors Degree with a Journalism major from Laval University in 1989. She enrolled in a Masters of Communication program at the University of Montreal in 1990.
The premature death of her sister Madeleine forced her to change her plans, to raise her niece. After completing her studies she had a career working as a Research Production Assistant and then as a Journalist. She spent five years with Radio-Quebec, Radio Canada International, and Radio-Canada, and collaborated on several occasions for TV5 Quebec-Canada, TV5-Africa and Access Network TV.
In 1995, she went into the Seventh Art as an actress and director. Chantal has travelled to Africa and the Caribbean to cover stories for TV5, Radio Canada International and her own film production company. In her travels as Journalist and Director, she discovered the extent of poverty and AIDS, which ruin African women. This motivated her to create the Madeleine Sanam Foundation in 2000, in memory of her sister. The foundation delivers unique community-based health initiatives and training packages across Edmonton. The foundation has diligently worked with and advocated for African and Caribbean immigrant and refugee women by delivering cutting edge social and educational training packages.
Chantal has created, a Weekly French-language radio magazine program “Fourre-tout”, on CJSR 88 FM Edmonton.
Chantal has been actively involved in the Greater Edmonton Community Radio Board of Directors for 4 years. This effort resulted in the license of the first French community radio station in Edmonton. It’s opening is scheduled for September 2018. Chantal is a strong advocate for, women empowerment, gender equality, inclusion and social justice. Chantel has won numerous awards for her work.
