In the 2026 Black History Month Magazine issue, we published an article titled “Timothy Noel – Soul for the Stollery” under the byline of Derodene “Dee” Paul. It has since come to our attention that the article as published did not accurately reflect the original piece submitted by Ms. Paul. The text that appeared in print included changes and additions that were made during the editorial process and were not reviewed or approved by her before publication. The published article also contained inaccuracies in Timothy Noel’s biography and in the description of his 2025 fundraising concert in support of Ronald McDonald House Alberta, including the amount raised during the event.
Responsibility for these inaccuracies and for the discrepancies between Ms. Paul’s original submission and the published article rests with the magazine’s editorial process, not with Ms. Paul as the credited author. We sincerely apologize to Ms. Paul, to Timothy Noel and to Ronald McDonald House Alberta for this misrepresentation.
A corrected version of Ms. Paul’s original article can be found in the digital edition of the magazine. CLICK HERE TO READ DIGITAL EDITION.
We are also reviewing and strengthening our editorial procedures to ensure that contributors’ work is not altered without their approval and that our coverage reflects the accuracy, fairness and integrity our readers deserve.
